From the start, my mom said she knew I had what her other children didn't, that I shared the "weird" gene with her. She called it "Playing Bobby" (still not sure about what that means...who is Bobby?). Often times her family caught her staring into space, a zombie look on her face, her mouth open a little bit to unintentionally utter words that only she could hear.
Okay, I'm making my mom sound crazy. She is in fact a completely sane, successful woman. She just happens to daydream. A lot. And so do I. A lot. And that is where I developed. So many hours of my elementary, middle, and high school (alright, I'll admit it: college, too) were spent in another world where I was cool or famous or the true Jedi who could bring balance to The Force.
Am I ever going to be good at math? No, but I am an expert at following a teacher with my eyes without absorbing a single thing he/she is saying. Which is a skill that helps me get through many boring meetings and lectures, and thereby much more useful than knowing what a parabola is and how it relates to the axis of symmetry.
Let's be honest, here. The real world is boring. No magic, no aliens, no mad-scientists-with-a-4,019,284-I.Q.-level. I quickly discovered the dullness of life once I started reading. Then I thought, "Wait, a magic tree house that can transport me to other dimensions in time? I want in." Once I realized that the trees in my backyard were forever going to be the ordinary kinds of trees that just grow and sometimes drop leaves on the ground, I made the decision right then and there that my imagination was going to have to compensate.
Many years and four-thousand stories later, I completed my first book, THE TRACE. Since then, I've been working on the following two books of that trilogy (titled Whitewashed), as well as some short stories, articles, and other books that have been cooking for some time. As of November 2016, I've officially signed with Evolved Publishing, who released Whitewashed into the real world May 2017! Book #2, THE INTEGER, releases Fall 2018. Go here to learn more about that!
Writing is a process, not an event, something I have recently learned. If you want, you can learn with me. This website is where I discuss the writing process that has gotten me to this particular stage in life. I often go on rants that end with cheesy realizations, so bear with me.
Thank you, reader, for doing what we all strive and yearn to do: Read, absorb, and, with a mad fervor that should never end, create. Welcome to my creations.
